Greetings from the Philippine Internet Users Society!
For the first time in history, the Philippines will join a target of some 50 countries on September 22, 2009 in a simultaneous global annual celebration of Internet day - OneWebDay, which is aimed at highlighting the importance of the Internet in empowering individuals, enhancing social ties, and contributing to economic growth and development.
The event would surely be more successful with a little help from people like you. In this respect, we are inviting EVERYONE TO JOIN THE CAUSE and BE A “DONOR” for a minimum amount of 100 PESOS you become a part of the event and is entitled to a "I Celebrate-OneWebday Certificate" memento which you can get during the event at Mall of Asia or directly delivered to you.
PIUS is the official host and principal organizer of the local celebration of OneWebDay, which was started by the New York-based OneWebDay Inc., a non-profit organization founded in 2006 by Susan Crawford, now an adviser of President Obama on science, technology, and innovation policy at the National Economic Council. OneWebDay is considered the counterpart of the April 22 Earth Day for the Internet.
As a non-profit organization, PIUS is organized like a movement that is enjoining everyone from individuals, businesses and organized groups to contribute their share to this growing global phenomenon. PIUS is inviting malls, schools and other commercial areas to hold their respective events as OneWebDay zones.
Internet shops, for instance, in partnership with I-CAFÉ Pilipinas , are encouraged to offer Free tutorial services to non-users for an hour, or half day, or even an entire day. After all, this will generate new customers for them. PIUS is also holding its main OneWebDay Festival at the SM Mall of Asia, which will feature a band concert, a FREE PC repair, online sellers EB, a symposium and seminar-workshop for e-commerce operators, and a lot more. There are volunteers working on our website for free, and other groups organizing various events starting with a package of events at SM Baliuag on Sept. 18 (check website for details). This is the strength of PIUS, which is anchored on the more numerous and often financially-strapped micro home-based entrepreneurs, who are practicing volunteerism and reviving the traditional “Bayanihan Spirit,” which is fast vanishing to the dog-eat-dog market competition. A manifestation of this is the commitment of some 20 computer technicians willing to offer computer repair services for FREE at Sept. 22 OneWebDay celebration at SM Mall of Asia. .
Also, we are inviting your business to be our “DONOR” for a minimum amount of P10,000, or in kind like gift certificates, or prizes, or a combination of both, to help us defray expenses for the OneWebDay celebration.
In return, you will receive the following benefits and media mileage:
- Your business will be recognized during the event.
- Your business logo will be included in the PIUS site at www.piusonline.com “Donors Section”
- Your business logo will be printed on our OWD Post Event Magazine (You’re entitled to 1 complimentary copy).
- Your donation will also be acknowledged in the PIUS Inc. monthly e-newsletter to all our members and attendees.
